PDF The Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) is a universal file format that can be created and viewed on any computer running Windows, Mac OS, or any Unix variant (Linux, BSD, Solaris, et cetera). Though the official Adobe Acrobat program to create PDFs is commercial, the Adobe Reader program to view PDFs is available free of charge.
ODT The OpenDocument Text (ODT) format is a universal file format that can be created and viewed on any computer running Windows, Mac OS, or any Unix variant (Linux, BSD, Solaris, et cetera). The native program for creating and viewing ODT files is OpenOffice.org, which is a full office suite available completely free of charge.
DOC The DOCument (DOC) format is the native file format used by Microsoft Office Word, which is available for Windows and Mac OS. If you have any version of Microsoft Office installed, you can open this format. It can also be opened by OpenOffice.org (above) and some other office suites.
URL Some of the articles contained in the resources section are not downloadable for a variety of reasons. For these articles, a full-text copy is available for online reading at the linked website. If you see this icon, you will be linked to an external website in order to view article.
