New research in June 2010

Greetings Healing Touch Practitioners,

Here is an opportunity to advance Healing Touch through scientific research. This June, in Terre Haute, Indiana, a scientific study will be held, and volunteers are needed. Please read below to learn the details, survey the call for volunteers, view the experiment protocols, etc.

Healing Touch Scientific Study

The goal of this scientific study, supported by the Indiana University School of Medicine - Terre Haute, is to find ways to measure energy healing. We have had some success with a sensitive magnetometer which detects low-frequency magnetic fields. In some cases, the change in magnetic field activity during a HT session has been very dramatic (see attached ad for volunteers), but in other sessions, the field is very quiet. Currently, we are trying to understand why some sessions show more activity than others. After each session, we sit with the healer and client to get their feedback on the session, to try to correlate magnetic field activity with what they have experienced. A number of variables seem to be important, such as the client's need for healing, their comfort level with HT, the type of ailment or imbalance they are experiencing, as well as the HT intervention used.

For this study, we are recruiting HT practitioners who have a regular practice -that is, seeing a minimum of 4 clients per month. If you choose to participate in this study, we will measure magnetic field activity during 2 - 4 HT client sessions with you as the healer volunteer. The healer chooses the appropriate HT interventions for the session, based on client intake, with sessions lasting 40-60 minutes each.

Two options for where the experiments will take place: 1) I am happy to travel to St. Louis to record magnetic field activity during HT sessions in a healer's space (but the space needs to be minimum of 8 feet wide). In this situation, the healer would need to recruit client volunteers, preferably 2 - 4 clients. 2) Alternatively, HT practitioners may travel to western Indiana (along Interstate 70) to give HT sessions on either Tuesdays and Fridays at The Maple Center for Integral Health, located in Terre Haute, IN. Client volunteers will be provided, with a variety of ailments and imbalances (e.g., stress, backache, fibromyalgia, cancer survivors).

Client volunteers receive a free HT session and a $25 gift certificate. Healer volunteers are reimbursed for their time and travel (with hotel or meals provided).

Please download the packet containing all necessary information regarding the study.

The following dates are open in Terre Haute:
Tuesdays, June 15, 22, 29
Fridays, June 18, 25
